Met een ladingsenergie van 0,8 joule (Impuls 0,55 J) en <br />uitgangsspanning van 10.000 volt is het onder optimale omstandigheden krachtig <br />genoeg voor afrastering tot 10 km. Onder normale omstandigheden kan het een <br />afrastering van 3 km van stroom voorzien. Het apparaat zit in een robuuste, <br />waterbestendige en schokbestendige box waar ook de accu of batterij in past. Het bovenste rode <br />lampje knippert wanneer het voltage op de afrastering voldoende is. Het onderste <br />lampje knippert groen of rood naargelang het niveau van de acculading. Wanneer <br />de accu bijna leeg is, knippert het rode lampje en gaat het apparaat automatisch <br />over op een langzamere stand. De kracht is bij te stellen via de rechter knop, <br />welke tevens als aan-uit knop dient. In stand 1 geeft het apparaat zijn volle <br />vermogen en verbruikt het gemiddeld 60 mA. Een 12V accu van 85 Ah gaat dan <br />ongeveer 35 dagen mee. Wanneer je dieren zijn getraind de elektrische <br />afrasteringen en deze voldoende respecteren, kan je overwegen deze in de 1/2 <br />stand (half vermogen) te zetten. In de stand 'Haas' <br />geeft het apparaat ongeveer elke seconde een puls. Deze stand is ideaal om <br />dieren te trainen, maar verbruikt vrij veel energie. Wanneer je dieren de <br />afrastering al respecteren, kan je beter de 'schildpad' stand gebruiken. In deze <br />stand geeft het apparaat elke 3 seconden een puls. In de stand 'Zon' reduceert <br />het apparaat zijn puls-interval wanneer het nacht is en weidedieren minder <br />actief zijn. Zo hoef je de accu veel minder vaak op te laden. Ook is de accubak <br />af te sluiten met twee hangslotjes. Voor de aarding adviseert Gallagher twee <br />aardpennen van 1 meter te gebruiken.
